About this site

The Mercurialist's Journal is my online notebook. I chose this name for the site because I've got a...ahem...history...of being very, very mercurial in my blogging and social media habits. I loved the idea of using the word in the site name somehow and since I just wanted to keep a general notebook the title "The Mercurialist's Journal" seemed to be a great name for the site.

I love writing online. I don't like all of the nonsense that happens online so this site is a fresh start for my writing. I love to write about almost anything but what I won't usually write about here is politics and other contentious issues. There are plenty of other places for that. Arguing is alive and well on the Internet and I'm leaving it to others to fight those fights.

The intent of this site is to just write about the things I love or anything else that piques my interest. I believe that everyone should have an online home where they can be who they want to be, and write about things they love, away from the places that cause so many problems in today’s world. Everyone has something to say and should be able to say it in a place that’s their own, free from hot takes, harassment, etc. Social media isn’t that place, our own websites are.
