About that Army parade...
Going to go out on a limb and ask: what the fuck was the big deal? It's the 250th year for the US Army, the parade was actually a pretty cool display of the history of the US Army, and Trump absolutely didn't make a fool of himself there, aside from looking ridiculous standing and saluting. He just sat there and watched, gave a bog-standard speech at the end without riffing, and that was it. It was in no way a "dictator parade" as I've seen some calling it.
The Left is going absolutely apeshit about it. Sharing photos and videos online "oh look there were more people at Whatever City, USA "No Kings" protest march while posting photos and videos of the Army parade that didn't have any timestamp associated with them. One woman on Bluesky reposted a video of the area around the Washington Monument noting how small the crowd was. It was clearly early in the day and the parade didn't start until late afternoon. I watched the parade on CSPAN and turned to MSNBC when it was done. There were a lot of people there when Ali Velshi was broadcasting from the same area when the thing was wrapping up.
Others on Bluesky were claiming martial law would be declared this weekend. Aside from the fact that anyone making that claim, and the people responding in kind, look like fucking lunatics...who is going to enforce martial law on a country of 350 million+ people? The US military? I assume these people don't understand how big the US really is and how small the military is by comparison. These people are absolutely unhinged but think they're alright because they're not goose-stepping Nazis hanging out on X.
These parades have happened in the past. There was one when the first Gulf War was over. Would y'all feel better if they did it a week after Trump's birthday even though the Continental Army was formed on June 14th, 1775? All this to say - people need to calm the fuck down already.
